I’m opting for “neutral” instead of “nude”
– they’re the nails you have when you want to look polished and groomed but
don’t want to make a statement. They’re not the perfect pink nail polish but a
low key compliment to your skin tone. They’ll take you anywhere wearing
anything and you’ll know you look just right. And they last so much longer than
most colours.

Essie Imported Bubby
Ballet slippers, a classic pale
pink, has been one of Essie’s best-selling colors for the past 32 years but I
prefer this newcomer, a neutral take on an “80’s nude sheen. “Whitney silvery,
sparklyish” is how my young son describes it and, unlike some of Essie’s recent fashion shade, it
isn’t watery.
The same son says it’s “A
little bit of Australian skin color” which means, he says, “pinky-white with a
little
bit sunburnt”. Which means it is the soft pink of a traditional French manicure. And with Orly it means easy application and beautiful coverage

A subtle and elegant
purple-brown is part of the French Nudes
Collection by Tom Pecheux, Lauder’s
creative marketing director.
It’s on the more daring scale of neutrals but is
highly sophisticated. It really does look expensive.
